I was lucky enough to catch Villagers playing their new stuff supporting Grizzly Bear at the end of last year so was really looking forward to seeing them play the stuff with me knowing it and seeing what they do with it on stage as opposed to the album (Ship of Promises from their first album is a song which seems to have constantly changing versions) and they didn't disappoint.
Wonderful gig. Hadn't had an opportunity to fully listen to the new album it was promoting but loved every minute of the gig. Banter limited to what they had sounds recorded for (which also kinda highlights the limited banter that there is with a crowd...), but a whole lotta fun even so 8-)
Really must work on my recognition skills... MC Lars was on the merch desk and I only cottoned on part way through conversation and fist bump (oh god, is there anything worse than asking me to high five or fist bump someone I don't really know... I'm not good at that sort of thing).
