Yeah, believe it or not I am still alive. Not a lot has been happening though so this is another of those summary posts. Sorry.
First up, I've been doing my normal bout of reading. Currently reading The Strain from del Toro and Hogan. Wow. Couldn't tell you if it's a good book or not but am thoroughly enjoying it - especially so after the last few I've read. Poul Anderson's The Broken Sword, Sarah Walters' The Little Stranger and Lev Grossman's The Magicians. The Little Stranger was so far out of my norm that I don't think it's fair for me to comment too negatively, however, The Broken Sword and The Magicians should definitely be burnt on sight (yeah, I didn't really like either of them).
UPDATE TO ADD On the radio the other day I heard someone from Harper Collins bragging about how quickly they'd put together a biography of Micheal Jackson - 2 days for the words, 3 days for the pictures. Is it just me that thinks this is horrible crass commercialism trying to take advantage of the public with something which can only possibly be a piss poor piece given the haste with which it's been assembled. Should the hack who wrote it be able to hold his/her head high in public? Grrr... And also, can we please shut the fuck up about him!!
Secondly, OMG! Wasn't Torchwood: Children of Earth brilliant! It was the Torchwood I always hoped existed. It lost the juvenile idea of what adult drama is all about. And what a replacement they found in the dark, all too scarily believable and depressing storyline they created. (Spoiler-filled discussion points at end of post)
In keeping with the TV theme, I've been watching Supernatural. Just finished S2 and have S3 to watch. Looking forward to True Blood coming out on DVD despite having not seen any.
Musically, Blur were excellent (as any of my Twitter followers no doubt know given I couldn't shut up about the gig). I'm off to see Cornershop in a couple of weeks - hopefully with a few days to get to know their new stuff. In December I have Lancashire Hotpots on the 5th, Rocky Horror on the 11th (still got three spare tickets....) and Placebo on the 12th. Busy couple of weeks there.
Warrington Music Festival was last weekend. Again, thoroughly enjoyable and extensively tweeted about. Disappointingly though, the Wolves vs. St Helens game dominated the Warrington Twitter search.
Start of July saw me down in Stratford for three days for the National Association of Student Money Advisers conference. Do you really want me to bore you with details of Northern Ireland Funding, ammendments to company Memorandum and Articles and negotiation techniques? No? Thought not 8-)
Still considering how to do the Queer Blog thing I talked about earlier. I have booked a couple of weeks off at the start of August so will try and get it set up then. If anyone has other suggestions for what I can do with the rest of that time, let me know. Hopefully I can meet with old uni friends in Bristol (Sorry Bex, end of August already had too many booked off 8-( ). Still not worked out when I want to go to Bletchley Park actually...
So, yeah, my life has been trundling along.
Alex

Ianto.... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! How could they do that? And we didn't even get a decent shirtless shot of him.
Do we really want that bitch in charge of the country? Yes, very clever, very manipulative, but evil as fuck.
We are now kinda stuck for what to do with a new series. We have Gywn, but she's pregnant. No Hub. No other team members. Where can a new series go? Wherever it goes, I hope it's as bloody good as Children of earth was.
